Responsibilities from one household to another may be very different depending on the formality level and employer’s lifestyle.

  • typically responsible for driving family members and guests to social and professional events
  • in charge of service, cleaning and every aspect of the household vehicles
  • may also be required to work in the employer’s office, doing filing or faxing, and sometimes run errands
  • hours often vary; flexibility is therefore essential

Nurse

Responsibilities from one household to another may be very different depending on the formality level and employer’s lifestyle.

  • generally hired for patients needing extended hours of continuous care, such as bed ridden patients or patients unable to be left on their own
  • responsibilities may include giving injections, caring for wounds, checking vital signs such as blood pressure, blood glucose level, etc.
  • provides health education for the caregiver such as patient’s family or maid
  • assists in daily activities for elderly and temporarily disabled patients
  • responsible for palliative care and management of terminally ill patients (pain management, counseling therapy for the patient and family, etc.)

Salary range: $80,000 to $120,000+ US/CAN

Nurse Aide

Responsibilities from one household to another may be very different depending on the formality level and employer’s lifestyle.

  • cares for a patient who is ill or recovering from a surgery or disease
  • tasks include bathing, dressing and undressing, preparing beds, running errands, performing light housekeeping, feeding assistance, recording fluid input and output, taking patient vitals, stocking medical supplies and emptying catheter bags.

Salary range: $40,000 to $60,000+ US/CAN
