Job Responsibilities of the Nanny – live-in

  • Provide all aspects of childcare for two (2) children (toddlers).
  • Create and maintain a healthy, safe and nurturing environment for the child.
  • Coordinating the entire day until bed time.
  • Planning, preparation and cooking healthy meals and snacks for the children.
  • General errand running, that might include groceries for items not delivered.
  • Minor housekeeping before/after housekeepers scheduled hours.
  • For example, but not limited to tidying the children’s bedrooms.
  • Taking the children to and from appointments and activities.
  • Bathing and assistance with dressing.
  • Organizing and participating to various leisure activities at home and outdoors. The preference would be for outdoor activity over indoors, not to be dictated by weather.
  • Walking with the children daily, stimulate and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
  • Eventually assisting with homework and general learning.
  • Travelling with the family when necessary (approx. 3-4 weeks per year).
  • Working in collaboration with the other members of the household staff.
  • Handling general requests as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working full-time in a private household with similar responsibilities.
  • Good English communication skills (mandatory). French/German fluency would be a plus.
  • Experience in teaching is an asset.
  • Must have a passion and keen understanding of world food, including organics and farm to table standards.
  • Must have a passion for life, the outdoors and education.
  • Flexibility to work outside of strict job description parameters.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Flexibility to work outside of strict job description parameters.
  • Flexibility in the working hours, according to the employer’s needs.
  • Have a keen sense of initiative.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Energetic with a strong work ethic and communication skill.
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of the children.
  • Professional and always maintain confidentiality.
  • Must know how to swim.
  • Must have a current legal working status in the USA
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence.
  • Smoke-free environment.
  • The ideal candidate would live-in 5 days a week.
  • First aid training and child and infant CPR certification.
