Job Responsibilities of the Private Island General Assistant – Summer

We are looking for a motivated individual to assist the Private Island Operations Manager and the Private Islands Service and Housekeeping Manager to perform various hands-on maintenance work and guest service related duties for the summer period.

Grounds Management

  • Perform general grounds keeping, day to day care and maintenance of the different structures, located in Muskoka region, for the summer season (±4 months).
  • Opening (June) and closing (mid-September) all structures.
  • Assisting with maintenance and repair projects.
  • Assisting with general handyman services and facilities (including water pumps, water filtering systems, boilers systems, generators, etc.)
  • Small repairs, painting, gardening, land maintenance, etc.
  • Assisting with the set up and maintenance of the leisure nautical equipment and outdoor areas such as tennis courts.
  • Boat Operations – Running miscellaneous errands and staff and guest transfers to the island.
  • Perform various duties, as needed.

Guest service/Hospitality

  • Greeting of guests and visitors.
  • Answer the various requests of the two Island Managers, employer and guests.
  • Assistance to guests while during their stay.

Housekeeping & Service

  • Assisting with Settings on certain occasions such as the table for breakfast, lunch & dinner.
  • Table and Service assist on certain occasions.
  • Assist with Housekeeping on certain occasions.

Boat driving

  • Competent Driving Abilities
  • Drive guests and staff on and off the island.
  • Tours with guests in the area and wherever they wish to go.

Other

  • Perform other duties, as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Must have developed handyman skills and be polyvalent.
  • High-end hospitality work experience is an asset.
  • Capable to prioritize and make practical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Calm, flexible, confident and capable to cope in stressful situations.
  • Incredibly organized with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Immaculate presentation (uniform will be provided).
  • Fluency in English both written and verbal.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to work out-of-hours.
  • Polite, well-mannered and knowledge of correct form of address.
  • A positive can-do attitude.
  • Must have a current legal working status in Canada.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good record.
  • Must have a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC).
  • Must know how to swim.
  • Must like dogs.
  • Own transportation highly recommended.

Job Salary

$20 per hour.

Job Additional Information

  • June to mid-September (Possible Extension)
  • Live-in with full board.
  • Work days: Thursday to Monday (flexibility required) 60 – 80 Hrs per week
  • Work hours: Shift work – 7:30 am to 7:30 pm (flexibility required).
  • Benefits could be reviewed (Health plan).
